Major Residential Developments

Planning applications have been in the pipeline for three major residential areas (Churchfields, Monksmoor and Danetree Village). These areas are shown on the plan below.

These applications are all subject to planning appeals as the developers were all unwilling to allow the WNDC and DDC the additional time they required to evaluate all the relevant the planning considerations necessary to determine applications of this type. These will be decided upon by the Secretary of State following a joint planning inquiry for all three applications (currently scheduled for January 2009). Full details of those applications are available on the WNDC website (www.wndc.org.uk).

The Town Council has made representations on your behalf to the Planning Inspector, who will be conducting the appeal inquiry, in respect of all three sites and the representations made are available by clicking on the following links.

Danetree Village Consortium

Representatives from the Town Council’s Planning & Development Committee, Daventry District Council (DDC), developers, landowners and representatives from the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC) attended a site visit of the area east of Daventry planned for extensive development.

The visit to this contentious site proved to be a very informative exercise giving all parties an insight to the scale and the negative impact it would have on the surrounding countryside. Proposals were met with opposition from the Town Council, DDC and the WNDC. The developers have taken their application, on appeal, to the Government.
This means the Secretary of State will make the final decision on any development on this site. This process will take some time, with no decision being made before 2009.

The WNDC, the DDC and the Town Council have made representations to the Government appeal panel for consideration.

Monksmoor and Churchfields

In August 2008, the Town Council were informed by the WNDC that the developers of the Monksmoor and Churchfields sites had taken their planning applications to the Government, on appeal.

As a Town Council we continue to monitor developments and make your opinions known.
