PARISH ALLOWANCES SCHEME
Last year the Independent Parish Remuneration Panel (IPRP) carried out a survey to consider a request to produce a Parish Allowances Scheme.
The survey was sent to all Parish Councils with 30 of the 32 who responded disagreeing with the principle of paying allowances. Due to this overwhelming view, the IPRP was of the opinion that it would not propose a scheme.
Individual Paris Councils are free, if they wish, to ignore this recommendation and introduce their own scheme of allowances.
At a Town Council meeting held on the 25th of March 2013 Daventry Town Council resolved that, in having regard for the recommendation of the IPRP, Daventry Town Council confirm that they will continue with their existing policy (see attachment) as the rate of remuneration is less than that in the Daventry District Council policy.
