Fairtrade

Fairtrade is about addressing poverty in the developing world through better prices. By buying Fairtrade certified products you are giving farmers a chance to sell their products at a stable price that covers their costs and enables them to support their families and invest in a better future.

Daventry Town Council acknowledges the importance of Fairtrade products and will support this movement by promoting awareness of Fairtrade products to departments, employees and the general public where possible and by making Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar available on request when offering Council hospitality.

By participating in Fairtrade, producers are able to use the additional income to strengthen their organisations and invest in social, environmental and business improvements. They are also able to learn more about markets and take more control of their lives.

The Fairtrade mark is awarded to products sourced from the developing world that meet internationally recognised standards of fair trade. For more information on Fairtrade and to understand how YOU can make a difference, visit http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/.
