Dial-a-Ride
The Dial-a-Ride Service sponsored by Daventry Town Council has now completed 2-years of providing a totally free service twice a week into the Town Centre for shopping. This operates on market days, Tuesday and Friday, for anyone aged 65 years and above. This is a door-to-door service providing easy access for the elderly, avoiding the need to walk long distances with heavy shopping. Barbara Hunt, Chairman of the Priory Estate Residents Association, says, “on behalf of the ladies who use the Dial a Ride service on the Priory Estate, I would like to say how much we appreciate it. We have people in their 80’s & 90’s and others with mobility problems who would find it so difficult to manage without this very valuable and helpful door-to-door service”.
If Dial-a-Ride passengers have a need for a Shopmobility Scooter, this can be collected from the DACT Shopmobility Scheme in New Street where the Minibus drops passengers off.
It is free to register to use the service, just call 01327 701610. Once registered, passengers just need to call the same number a few days in advance of the trip to book a pick-up.
