Knitting and crochet meet ups

Knitting and Crochet Meet Up Dates and Projects

The team have been running Knit and Crochet meet ups at the museum since early 2022. Last Christmas we made a 15 ft high crochet tree for the town centre (you can still see the video below) and this year we are taking part in Random Acts of Crafty Kindness by asking crafters to make decorations for trees that will appear in the town's shops, with the aim that they are all given away before the shops close for Christmas!

The Coronation Post-Box topper and earlier this year was a super team effort recently from this group of super friendly crafters (see the pics below). Why not join us, everyone is welcome! Bring your own projects or if you would like some yarn and needles we're happy to provide them. We can also teach knitting and crochet if you would like to learn!

Our upcoming knitting and crochet meet up's at 2pm until 4pm are held in Daventry Town Council and Museum, 3 New Street (disabled access via Church Walk).

The dates for the rest of the year are as follows:

  • Saturday 09 September 2023
  • Saturday 14 October 2023
  • Saturday 11 November 2023
  • Saturday 09 December 2023

See our Facebook events page for updates.

Yarn Xmas Tree Project

Christmas 2023

πŸŽ„This Christmas 2023 we will be running a Random Acts of Crafty Kindness Project!πŸŽ„

Can't knit or crochet? No problem, you could make a crafty decoration of any kind!

We will be reusing the beautiful small willow tree structures from 2022 and redecorating them with beautiful hand made decorations made from yarn, paper, willow, clay, lace... the choice is yours! These trees will be displayed in shops within the town and the decorations will be offered to anyone who requests one during the festive period, until the tree is bare, besides some lights and pom-pom bunting!

If you would like to start knitting, crocheting, crafting, paper or lace making, please do and get in touch or drop them into the museum.

The Daventry knitting and crochet group will share some yarn based ideas on Facebook and the link below will take you to some basic knitting and crochet bauble patterns, but if you have your own patterns that's fine too. There are no rules, besides making sure they are festive, safe (no buttons, edible pieces or adornments that could come loose if chewed by animals or small people) and no bigger than apx 10cm at it's longest part.

On your marks... get set... Christmas craft!!! πŸŽ…πŸ€ΆπŸŽ‰

The Coronation Post-Box topper was up in Market Square and it looked just brilliant, we had so many positive comments and thank-you's!!

A huge thank you to Gail, Vini, Julie, Kate and Ellie for their contributions.

The knitting and crochet group is made up of lovely lovely people who all have a crafty streak and want to share this with others.

Do pop along and see what we're about and if you would like to learn, we're always happy to teach you.
