Lantern Making Workshop a Roaring Success

Posted: Mon, 16 Nov 2015 14:55 by Daventry Town Council

Daventry Town Council's first lantern making workshop was a roaring success. It was held on Saturday 14th November in the Dolphin Suite of Phoenix Youth Centre. The creativity was amazing, who would think that from stems of willow and tissue paper you could create such diverse structures. Creations ranged from stars, to flowers to festive Christmas trees, angels and snowmen. The more elaborate structures included a butterfly, hot air balloon and R2-D2 from Star Wars.

The response has been overwhelming and people really enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to the parade.

We would like to thank the Daventry branch of Homebase and Alpine Carpet Warehouse who have donated materials for this community project.

Bookings are now being taken for our next workshop which is on this Saturday 21st November at Daventry Community Centre Ashby Rd, Daventry NN11 9QD. 11:30 until 6:00pm (final entry at 4:00pm), so why not come along and join the Mayor who is coming a long to create her own lantern.

Our Workshops are FREE and open to anyone who would like to take part in our lantern parade on Friday 4th December at 6:30pm.

Lanterns take between 1 and 2 hours to make. To guarantee your place please call 01327 301246 or email
