Daventry Mayor Cllr Glenda Simmonds Christmas message

"It is an honour to be the Mayor of Daventry and throughout the year I have had the joy of meeting many local people and organisations to learn more about their work within the community.

I have had the pleasure to meet a variety of local organisations and have been astounded by the hospitality and welcoming nature of them all. I would like to thank everyone I have met this year for their kindness and warmth expressed to me on visits. The town has many hidden talents and my role as Mayor gives me a fantastic insight into the diversity present in Daventry through the voluntary groups, youth organisations, schools and residents.

The Spirit of Christmas events were a fabulous chance to showcase the wonderful community spirit in Daventry and were enjoyed and supported by the public. I'm excited to see how the town will progress in 2017 and see the community spirit at the heart of the town.

This year my charity is Macmillan Daventry and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all who have given so generously, so far you have raised an amazing £3482.48!

I wish Daventry residents, businesses, local organisations, youth groups, schools and voluntary groups a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year".
