Daventry Town Council responds to latest planning applications

At its meeting on Wednesday 5th September, members of Daventry Town Council planning committee reviewed eight applications.

Please see below for details of the Council's reponses to the major applications received for comment:

The Grange DA/2018/0701 for a Demolition of existing care home. Construction of 33 dwellings.

No representations were received from residents, therefore members of the committee voiced their views on this planning application and concluded that although supportive of development, they recorded an objection to the application as they considered the proposed number of dwellings to be overdevelopment, together with concerns in relation to the road layout providing suitable access and egress for emergency and service vehicles.

Daventry & District Sports Club, Western Avenue, Daventry, Northamptonshire, NN11 4ST DA/2018/0666 for a Construction of new building and car park (resurfacing) to provide relocation premises for Reach For Health (Daventry Rehabilitation Trust) and on behalf of Daventry & District Sports Trust.

No representations were received from residents, therefore members of the committee voiced their views on this planning application and concluded that this application be deferred, as relevant detail on site location and elevations were not available and therefore insufficient information for the Council to make an informed decision. Officer to aske DDC LPA for copies of the elevations and request an extension to the consultation period.

Highways – Double Yellows. No representations were received from residents, therefore members of the committee voiced their views on this planning application and concluded that to support this proposal would set a precedent and would require double yellows to be painted on all T-junctions, which on referral to Highway Code Rule 243 (opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space) and lack of resources from relevant authority to police the restriction, they agreed not to support this proposal.

For information on all planning applications considered please refer to the attached document.
