BBC Children in Need Big Learner Relay leaves from Daventry

On Friday 16th November 2018, over 200 independent driving schools gathered at Daventry Football Club to complete the last leg of The Big Learner Relay, raising money for BBC Children in Need.

Now in its fifth year, The Big Learner Relay started on 29th October where the first leg set off from Jersey Airport.

Adrian Spires, from Gunner Pass Driving School in Daventry, had the role of leading the convoy from Daventry on its last leg of its journey to Silverstone, where the cars would take part in a lap around the famous circuit.

The pupil driving his car, Niamh, from Lang Farm in Daventry, said, "It is really exciting and a little nerve wrecking to be leading the convoy, but it is such a privilege to be involved in something as rewarding as this."

Daventry Mayor, Cllr Lynn Jones, was present to wave the convoy off said, "It was marvellous to see so many people take part in such a worthwhile cause. I spoke with one woman who said she had come all the way from Southampton! I am incredibly proud of Adrian, Niamh and all who helped to organise today to raise money for BBC Children in Need."
