We're hiring a Part-Time Temporary Events Officer

Daventry Town Council is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Events Officer. This role is integral to the Daventry community and we are therefore looking for a passionate individual with a can-do attitude.

The right candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office and have excellent writing skills. They will be hard working, able to juggle many projects and able to work accurately and to deadlines. They will be self-motivated, creative and able to work autonomously. The ability to talk confidently to a variety of third-party stakeholders, be able to build and maintain relationships and be a self-starter is critical.

Job Description

Job Title: Part-time Temporary Events Officer

Reporting to: Chief Officer

Present Location: 3 New Street, Daventry, Northants NN11 4BT

Salary Scale: NJC Scale Points 7-17 (£19,554-£23,836 as at 1st April 2019)

Hours: Flexible by arrangement with Chief Officer (to include evening and weekend work)

Job Purpose: To facilitate and manage events in Daventry Town.

Duties and Responsibilities:


1.To develop and deliver a programme of scheduled engagement events for the Town Council.

2.To develop and deliver a programme of responsive events related to national programmes such as Commonwealth Day.

3.Continuously monitor and evaluate events and programmes, providing regular reports to Community Services committee on their progress/success.

4.Attend and deliver local community outreach activities with partner and local organisations.

5.To liaise with, where appropriate, external suppliers and contractors, helping to negotiate the acquisition of services at best value, encouraging added value to all contracts and ensuring each job is completed on time and within agreed budgets.

6.Liaise and work in partnership with external bodies to lead, manage and support Town events and/or activities.

7.To develop links with, build and maintain good working relationships with relevant community organisations such as Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue, Northants Police, Daventry District Council, local community groups.

8.To understand the Events budget supporting the RFO in the effective control and monitoring of the budgets.

9.Carry out post-activity de-brief to include analysis, providing recommendations for future activities.

10.Ensure all elements of event are completed on time and to budget.

11.Be responsible for ensuring health and safety regulations are adhered to and risk assessments are maintained on a regular basis.

Communications and Marketing

1.To take a lead role in the creation, production of printed promotional literature liaising with Communications Officer and external contractors and suppliers as required.

2.To manage the design, creation and production of marketing campaigns, digital and printed newsletters for a wide range of segmented audiences.

3.Work with Communications officer to maintain all social media platforms, in relation to events.

4.Liaise with Communications Officer, to publicise the Council's events, activities and achievements.

5.Working with Communications Officer to build good working relationships with local press and media personnel and maintain already established links.

6.To manage and generate good quality digital photography and video content for the promotion of events.

7.Adhere to and safeguard the Town Council identity and branding.

3. General

1. Provide administrative support, when required, to facilitate the smooth functioning of the office, liaising with other staff as appropriate, to ensure end user satisfaction.

2.To support the CO/RFO and/or other members of the Town Council on specific projects/work.

3.To be responsible for ensuring data quality in line with GDPR regulations, both manual and electronic.

4.Undertake other duties which may arise or as may be delegated.

Note: Attendance to meetings and events involves occasional evening and weekend work for which single time off in lieu can be taken.
