Letter From Daventry Mayor Mike Arnold: Week 3

Letter From Daventry Mayor Mike Arnold: Week 3

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend from the safety and comfort of their own homes. I'm sure the long weekend and sunny weather probably made many of us wish we were away on day trips, a holiday or just meeting family. Normally, we spend the Easter holiday caravanning, but we still had a holiday of sorts at home in the garden.

We had a long online chat with my son and daughter in law and 10 month old grandson, which helps us keep in touch. We may have missed a holiday and be missing family like everyone else, but if we do this right then there will be plenty of future holidays to make up for this.

Let's thank everyone who worked this past weekend and who is continuing to work through this isolation period too. They are invaluable in helping to ensure Daventry is still able to operate and thrive.

On a personal note, I've been stretching my technical nous trying to understand how to get my new computer to allow online meetings so that the Council can have virtual committee meetings. Now which button do I need to press?!

Our first Town Council meeting via video conference is Finance & Policy tonight at 6.30pm. Members of the public are welcome and can join this meeting by Zoom using the link below:

It's important for us to continue with business as nearly normally as possible with a full Council Meeting coming next week also.

One plus side to everything though, at least our dogs can now sleep undisturbed for 23 hours a day.

Wishing everyone another safe week. Please keep up the good work and continue to stay at home to help save the lives of yourself and others.

Kind regards

Mayor Mike Arnold

P.S. Goodness me, the unexpected happens even in the difficult times we are now in. Daventry has reached world wide fame. Many of you will have seen this video (link below), some will not have, but fame has come to us from an escaping dustbin! So I have to award a Mayors Commendation to Martin and Nathan Fretter for supplying the laughs. Thank you
