Daventry’s Open Spaces Transferred To Town Council

Public open spaces in Daventry have been transferred to Daventry Town Council as preparations to reorganise local government in Northamptonshire continue.

The transfer includes the New Street Recreation Ground and other public open space across the town, but excludes Daventry Country Park and Borough Hill.

We have taken on responsibility for maintaining the Holy Cross churchyard, roadside verges in the town, non-County Council street furniture, street lighting in the town centre, and the Mulberry Place public square once it is developed.

Also included is the town's historic Burton Memorial, the Daventry Calling Sculpture on the Abbey Street/Southway roundabout, and the gazebo at the top of Sheaf Street.

The transfers mean these facilities will continue to be managed locally and we're very pleased to have worked with Daventry District Council on this.
