Safe Trading Measures to be considered for Daventry High Street
Daventry Town Council held a Special Meeting last night to consider the views of both residents and businesses on a scheme to make Daventry Town safer by closing the High Street, to prevent the spread and/or second wave of Covid19.
Following attendance to a meeting with the Retail Forum and a request for comments via various social media groups in the Town, it was clear that many residents and businesses were against this option, fearing loss of footfall leading to the closure of businesses rather than an investment to increase footfall and boost trade in the Town.
Members of the Town Council considered all the views submitted and have submitted a request for further dialogue with Daventry District Council and Northamptonshire County Council to explore ideas and use of available funding to implement measures that will support local businesses and establish a safe trading environment for all.
