Resolution from Daventry Town Council on the proposal from Daventry District Council for the disposal of land off Eastern Way for the purpose of delivering a new secondary school

Daventry Town Council considered the proposal put forward by Daventry District Council's Strategy Group at its virtual meeting held on Wednesday 15th July 2020 for the disposal of land off Eastern Way, Daventry for the purpose of delivering a new secondary school.

Members of the public were invited to participate in the meeting, which was well attended and offered participants an extended opportunity to fully air their concerns with the proposal ahead of the Councils deliberations.

After extensive debate by members on the proposal it was resolved that Daventry Town Council write to Daventry District Council Chief Executive Mr Ian Vincent stating that Daventry Town Council supports the future provision of a third secondary school but opposes the location on land off Eastern Way and, should the need for a third secondary school arise, it be located within a neighbourhood development.

On the conclusion of the meeting the Chair of Daventry Town Council, Councillor Lynne Taylor "urged members of the Town Council and the large number of participants in attendance to submit their comments to Daventry District Council who are seeking public opinion on the disposal of the land".
