Daventry Farmers Market Success
The sun was certainly shining on our first Farmers Market on Saturday 19th September 2020.
Held along Daventry High Street we were excited to invite an array of socially distanced artisan food related stalls to join us, all selling products that could be taken away to eat, cook, prepare, or use at home.
This family friendly and free market boasted many local traders selling a wide range of items including vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, gluten free and nut free options to suit all dietary requirements.
Whilst in Daventry on the day many customers also visited some of the town's cafes, restaurants, pubs and amazing independent shops. Several retailers reported higher takings on the day due to the increased footfall, which is great to hear.
The feedback from both traders and visitors was extremely positive so much so they were all asking when the next one would be. All we can say is we will keep you posted - so watch this space!
One of our Traders Turned Out Nice passed on this lovely comment:
"I would like to say a massive thank you to DTC for organising today's Farmer's Market. As traders we had a great day and are really grateful to everyone that bought from us and also the DTC team for being so efficient, friendly and made us feel reassuringly safe. No one we spoke to felt apprehensive at being in town and all showed amazing consideration and kindness to each other."
The Farmers Market was held this year in replacement of the Food Festival due to current climate to adhere to Covid-19 Government guidelines. We ensured stalls were spread out along the whole of the High Street to allow for social distancing and appropriate queue gaps. All stall holders undertook necessary safety precautions and adhered to risk assessments prior to attending. Plus, although not required because of being outside, many visitors wore face coverings to offer extra protection to themselves and others.
We would like to commend visitors for their consideration to social distancing rules and being kind to others when queuing and walking between stalls.
Thank you for helping support the Market and to everyone who helped organise it ensuing it ran so smoothly.
