Get Involved in Daventry Town Councils Litter Picking Scheme
Daventry Town Council wants to make a difference to the environment in our town by backing the Keep Britain Tidy: Great British September Clean Campaign which runs from, 11- 27 September 2020.
In addition, Daventry Town Council are launching our own litter picking scheme targeting areas within Daventry. Local residents are being asked to pledge an hour of their time to join the Community Ranger and Ward Councillors on these picks. Litter blights our streets and parks and so with residents support we want to inspire people to eliminate litter now and for future generations.
Already we have received a great response from local residents and community groups who want to get involved and become 'Litter Heroes' and we would love to see families of all ages join us on the scheduled litter picks too.
The Mayor of Daventry Cllr Lynne Taylor is very happy to launch this scheme noting: "I am very passionate about tackling litter issues in Daventry and want to help improve the environment on everyone's doorstep. If we spotlight problem areas within the town, we hope to make a difference in changing behaviour permanently"
Our first litter pick will be on Saturday 12th September 2020 at 11am – 12pm meeting at the Fishponds play area and targeting the green spaces in that district.
The litter pick walks will be led by our Community Ranger Charlotte Jones who will have planned a short route for all volunteers to follow and will ensure that it is social distancing appropriate. The safety of all volunteers is paramount to us.
All equipment required such as pick up sticks, gloves, binbags and hand gel will be provided by Daventry Town Council.
To register interest in joining us on any of our walks in advance please email: Comms@daventrytowncouncil.gov.uk
Alternatively, please check our website and social media profiles for regular updates on each months' litter pick hotspot and feel free to turn up on the scheduled day.
