High Sheriff Of Northamptonshire meets the People of Daventry #DaventryMayorOnTour
The High Sheriff of Northamptonshire, Paul Parsons is currently doing a tour of the county to meet with community groups and businesses to recognise the hard work and commitment voluntary groups are doing to help others and meet individuals and companies striving to keep the wheels of business turning when the consequences of the pandemic is tugging on the purse strings.
Met by the Mayor of Daventry, Cllr Lynne Taylor, he was taken on a tour of the Town, first stopping at the Daventry Volunteer Centre, whose volunteers have been helping people since 1990. The High Sheriff met with Carella Davies, Manager of the Daventry Volunteer Centre and her team who promote the Happy at Home, Clean and Green, Daventry Time Bank and Building Better Opportunities projects, as well as providing a space for activities and groups, to promote health and wellbeing for Daventry's elderly residents.
Accompanied by the Mayor and Daventry Town Council's Community Ranger, the High Sheriff was then treated to a 'Tour of the Town', visiting retailers, hairdressers, barbers, cafes and restaurants whose businesses were closed during lockdown and have now reopened, facing new challenges to ensure their business survives the new 'normal'.
The tour finished with a visit to Daventry Museum to view the latest exhibition 'A Virtual and Veritable Cabinet of Curiosities' and of course the Royal Charters (two under the name of Queen Elizabeth I, one under James I and the other under Charles I).
The High Sheriff was overwhelmed by the friendliness of the Town and the passion and commitment shown by the people he met. He will be back, with his wife to enjoy the shopping experience and hospitality he discovered on his visit.
