Daventry Mayor & Co. Fly High For Their Charity Skydive Endeavour

After a longer than expected wait, some of the Daventry Town Council team (plus equally daft friends), finally got to complete their 13,000ft charity skydive last week.

The brave fundraising team were originally scheduled to jump last month, a couple of the team completed their jump, however a technical fault meant that the remaining participants were stopped from continuing. Daventry Town Cllr. Matthew Churchley was one of the lucky team members able to dive first time around but unfortunately Daventry Town Councils, Operations Officer, Mel Bland, plus Daventry Mayor Cllr. Karen Tweedale and family missed out. All the team were eager to try again and there were sighs of relief all round when they were able to successfully dive on the rescheduled date.

On what was a beautiful and sunny autumnal day, the conditions were perfect for the remaining members of the team to now complete their much anticipated dives.

After completing the Skydive Daventry Mayor Cllr. Karen Tweedale commented:

"We survived! Everybody had an awesome day and all for such a worthy charity. In total our amazing team raised (with some match funding) just short of £5,000. A huge thank you to all of you amazing people that donated and helped us achieve this"

The skydive was in aid of this year's mayoral charity, Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK) and is part of Cllr. Karen Tweedale's ongoing fundraising campaign to support the charity which helps to beat muscle-wasting conditions.

Daventry Town Council would like to take this opportunity to thank the brave volunteers who took part and congratulate them on their amazing fundraising efforts. There is still time to donate to this wonderful cause via the link below.

Cllr. Karen Tweedale is now contemplating a wing walk next year - so watch this space for more updates on her fundraising adventures!
