Daventry Mindful Mile Campaign Is Live

Today (Monday 14 February 2022) sees the launch of Daventry Town Councils Mental Health Awareness Campaign which aims to remind ourselves and others, to be more open about mental health and to take time out to recharge our batteries when we are feeling depleted.

To start it off we have created a Daventry Mindful Mile campaign which invites all residents or anyone visiting the town to complete a short town trail - a 1 mile walk around Daventry - whilst looking out for Meaningful Messages enroute. Find the 20 boards displayed around Daventry Town Centre and tick off the symbols or words on the FREE trail sheet as you go. Trail sheets are available from Daventry Museum and retailers around town - look out for the posters in their shop windows. We hope the trail will be a bit of mindful fun and a chance to take a break from daily life stresses.

In addition to the trail there are some mindful colouring on the back for people to complete at their leisure, a beneficial activity proven to help calm and distract the mind when feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

Daventry Museum will also be offering a FREE Knitting & Crochet tutorial session as part of their next open Saturday event on Saturday 5 March 2022. Please find full event details on our Facebook Page.

We will also be sharing, on our social pages, motivational thoughts and advising on mental awareness sessions in various locations in the Town Centre and Daventry based groups, offering a safe space to start a conversation around mental health or provide a welcome distraction to help maintain your mental health.

The rationale behind the campaign is to help normalise mental health awareness, spread positivity and promote the wonderful support resources available within the town. For more information and events you can attend visit our Mental Health Matters page on our website.

Daventry Town Council's Chief Officer, Deborah Jewell commented:

"We want to encourage everyone to check in on themselves and others during our Daventry Mindful Mile Campaign, to make sure they are feeling okay and know that they can access the wide range of support on offer if needed. It's okay not to feel okay and as a Town Council we are committed to helping people improve their wellbeing, both physically and mentally. We hope residents enjoy the Mindful Mile walk and colouring exercises and take time for themselves."

Daventry Town Council would love to hear from any local groups who offer these services for us to share to get in touch via: comms@daventrytowncouncil.gov.uk

The trail and colouring sheets are available to collect from our offices at 3 New Street, Daventry, NN11 4BT.
