Knit & Crochet Mindful Event Success

As part of Daventry Town Council's current Mental Health Matters awareness campaign, we invited avid knitters and crocheters, or anyone who fancied learning a new skill, to join us for a craft and natter at our free Knitting & Crochet tutorial session.

The drop in session, held on Saturday 05 March at Daventry Museum as part of their monthly Saturday open day, showcased knitting and crochet as a great way to practice mindfulness, meet new people and be creative.

Tutors were on hand to informally teach beginners starting from scratch and assist those more experienced participants. We also had some seasoned crafters in attendance, who kindly helped share their knowledge and passion for this creative pastime to newbies sitting near them. The event was a lovely way of bringing people together with a shared activity and social purpose.

Julie Walker, organiser of 'Daventry Christmas Tree Yarn Project 2022' joined us too, helping tutor and share information about her exciting upcoming project to coordinate a yarn Christmas Tree Trail around Daventry for December 2022. There are still further activities and upcoming events for all residents or anyone visiting the town to participate in as part of our Mental Health Matters campaign. Residents are still able to undertake our Daventry Mindful Mile TRAIL SHEET 2022, which invites participants to complete a short town trail - a 1 mile walk around Daventry - whilst looking out for Meaningful Messages enroute. Find the 20 boards displayed around Daventry Town Centre and tick off the symbols or words on the FREE trail sheet as you go.
