We were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Daventry Town Council would like to express its deepest condolences to all members of the Royal Family.

A message from the Mayor of Daventry Town, Cllr Malcolm Ogle:

On behalf of the people of Daventry, I would like to express my most profound sorrow at the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, and to convey our deepest condolences to all members of the Royal Family at this difficult time."

"Queen Elizabeth has been a loyal servant to this country and has touched the hearts of millions of people, not just in the United Kingdom but throughout the Commonwealth and across the globe. She was an exceptional person who devoted her life to her family, her nation, and the Commonwealth."

Book of Condolence

A book of condolence will be open from Monday 12th September at Daventry Town Council Offices & Museum (3 New Street, Daventry NN11 4BT) on weekdays between 09:30 and 16:30 until 17:00 on the day after the funeral (date to be confirmed by Buckingham Palace).

The book will also be open from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday 17th September 2022.

Floral Tributes

The Mayor of Daventry, Cllr Malcolm Ogle will be laying a wreath in the area by the flag poles at the top of London Road at 10:00 on Saturday 10th September 2022.

Members of the public are invited to join him in laying floral tributes at this location. Please note floral tributes can be laid at this location at any time and we respectfully ask that all cellophane is removed.

The Proclamation

The new King will be formally proclaimed monarch at a historic Accession Council at 11:00 on Saturday 10th September at St James Place, London. This is then read out in other cities and finally by Parish and Town Councils on Sunday 11th September 2022.

The Mayor of Daventry invites you to join him, as he reads the Proclamation at the area by the flag poles at the top of London Road at 6pm on Sunday 11th September 2022. Following which, you are then invited to attend a Special Commemoration Service, at 18:30 on Sunday 11th September in Holy Cross Church, to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen.

Church Service

Holy Cross Church will be open from 13:00 – 15:00, Friday 9th September 2022, for residents to reflect in remembrance of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II.

A Special Commemoration Service, marking the death of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth will be held at 6.30pm on Sunday 11th September in Holy Cross Church, to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen.
