DTC Welcomes New Councillors
Following recent notices of Town Councillor Vacancies for Daventry North Ward and Daventry West Ward, Daventry Town Council members voted in favour of Scott Cameron and Glenda Simmonds, respectively.
Scott Cameron was co-opted as the new representative for Daventry North Ward, and Glenda Simmonds as the new representative for Daventry West Ward.
Daventry Town Council would like to thank the other excellent candidates who nominated themselves, each putting forward great ideas and showing vast enthusiasm for the town.
Cllr Cameron commented following his appointment:
"Learning the intricacies of how town planning and events work will give me an understanding of how we can drive change and where I can support the good work Daventry Town Council already does. It's easy to moan about things around us, so I thought it better to get stuck in and take ownership of town decisions. It is a privilege to be another voice representing Daventry and to help deliver projects and services to residents."
Cllr Simmonds has previously been a Town Councillor and was appointed Mayor of Daventry in 2010 and 2016. She re-applied to the council as she is passionate about improving facilities for the youth in Daventry and commented:
"I would like the opportunity to help curate more accessible youth projects and schemes within the town, building upon the new excellent youth initiatives Daventry Town Council have actioned in the past year. I look forward to participating in decision-making to make a difference in our town."
The next full Town Council meeting will take place in the Chambers at Daventry Town Council, on Monday, 22nd May 2022, at 6:30pm. Members of the public and press are welcome to attend.
