By-Election for Daventry Town Council South East Ward

A by-election has been called in the Daventry South East Ward following Janet Matthews' decision to step down from her role in November 2025.

Daventry Town Council is looking for a new Town Councillor to represent this ward in the upcoming election.

Your voice matters in shaping the future of our community! A vacancy has arisen for one councillor, if more that one candidate stands, an election will take place on Thursday, 12th February 2026.

As a Town Councillor, you will bring fresh enthusiasm and new ideas to the Council, along with a genuine care for your community and a willingness to learn.

What you'll need:

🕒 TIME
Generally speaking, you can manage the time you spend by adjusting your level of commitment to suit the needs of the town and your aims for the community. Meetings are mainly held at Daventry Town Council offices on Mondays at 6:30pm. It's important to ensure meeting schedules fit around your personal and/or business commitments.

🤝 CHARACTER
You should be committed, collaborative, analytical, patient, practical, and have a positive, can-do attitude.

💷 EXPENDITURE
The role of Town Councillor is unpaid; however, any authorised expenditure incurred while carrying out duties on behalf of the Council will be reimbursed.

If you'd like to stand as a candidate, you will need to submit a completed Nomination Form by Friday 16th January 2026 (see below)

Nomination Forms

To download a copy of the Notice of Election and Nomination Pack click on the links provided.

Nomination forms must be printed out, completed and returned by hand, to the the Returning Officer at:

Nomination Forms can be submitted Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, from the date of the publication of Notice of Election, but no later than 4pm on Friday 16th January 2026.

Please note: Nomination Forms received after 4pm on Friday 16th January 2026 will not be accepted.

Should more than one candidate stand for election as the Town Councillor for the ward, then the election will take place on Thursday 12th February 2026.

The forms in the Nomination Pack must be printed before submitting them, by hand, to West Northamptonshire Council's Returning Officer. Physical copies are available from West Northamptonshire Council and Daventry Town Council.
