Daventry Town's FREE Summer Activities
for children (& the young at heart)!

We want to make Summer 2022 one to remember with an exciting schedule of activities to get all the family involved. Activities are all FREE to attend and mostly aimed at toddler through to teens, but there's something for the adults too! Just book a free place for each session via Eventbrite, details of which can be found below and on our social media. There will be a super fun workshop or coaching session to suit everyone, all taking place in easy to reach, town centre locations.

Make some memories and enjoy the town's many green spaces at our forest school & bushcraft sessions. Have fun and get active with our town centre skateboarding, scooter, balance and circus skills coaching. Learn to drum and draw calligraphy for mindfulness and meditation. Enjoy some theatrical antics and a day at Daventry town market with street theatre and performances near the Burton Memorial. We can't wait to see you, so get booking from Monday 4th April for your chance to take part!

Full location information and car parking details can be found on the Eventbrite listings for each activity below. All sessions are bookable via Eventbrite, unless 'drop-in session' is stated. Parents and carers must accompany their children and stay for the duration of all sessions.

Forest School Fun with Nature Noodles

Forest School activity sessions

Forest school sessions with Nature Noodles are a fun and educational for children and their adults! Come along and spend time in some of the town's lovely outdoor spaces amongst the trees. Learn about wildlife and environment appreciation, exploring and understanding nature, tracking, bugs, dens, whittling willow, hammocks and slack lines, rope swings and web making, potions, crowns, natural art, clay and mindfulness.

Forest School sessions are FREE to attend, but you must book a place for each child, for each session, for the age appropriate session.

Mindfulness in the Forest with Nature Noodles

Mindfulness sessions with nature noodles

Mindfulness forest sessions with Nature Noodles are a wonderful way to enjoy mindful activities, including meditation and crafts. Come along and spend time at Lang Farm, amongst the trees, but within easy reach of Daventry Town Centre. These sessions are for anyone wanting to be guided through nature led mindfulness, learning to tune in to a meditative mindset using techniques you can then apply at home or during walks and simple activities. There are adult only sessions and a family session too, see below.

These sessions are FREE but you must book a place for the appropriate session for each attendee.

Super Skateboard Coaching

Skateboard coaching sessions

Team Rubicon are a nationwide skateboard and scooter coaching provider. They taught over 50,000 children to skateboard and scoot in just one year recently and they'll be in Daventry Town Centre over four summer days, coaching beginners (and improvers too). Come along and see what you can learn. Expert coaches will give children tonnes of confidence and skills on a skateboard whether they've tried it before or not! All equipment will be provided.

Bushcraft with Nature Nurture

Bushcraft sessions

Nature Nurture's Lee Baker has been running Bushcraft and Survival Skill sessions in Daventry for a number of years and this summer he is running three special workshops within easy reach of Daventry Town Centre. So come and join these nature focused sessions amongst the trees, for children aged 6 and over, their adults and all ages in between!

Learn all manner of Bushcrafting and Survival Skills such as whittling and fire lighting to shelter making and knots, navigation and lots more!

Families are welcome to take part together especially as it makes for wonderful bonding opportunity for all ages, or let the children run wild (under Lee's supervision!) whilst adults watch on from a safe distance.

Time: 10.30am-12.30pm (Duration 2 hours).

Circus & Balance Skills Workshops

Circus and balance skills workshops

The Joker Entertainment have delighted audiences in Daventry many times and this time it's your turn to have a staring role in the circus act! Join expert tutors who will demonstrate, encourage and guide children aged 5-13 years through an array of circus and balance skill activities. Set in New Street Park, in the centre of Daventry town, these FREE workshops will be a huge amount of fun! No experience, red noses or large clown shoes required!

What: Learn a range of circus and balance skills, from juggling to plate spinning, stilts and unicycling with expert tutors on hand to encourage and keep you safe. All equipment provided.

Time: 10.30am-12.30pm each day (Duration 2 hours).

You can book one or more session and there will also be a drop-in session each afternoon at 12.30-2.30pm when booking is not necessary.

This is a FREE workshop for children aged 5 to 13 years and for the morning sessions you must book a place for each child attending.


Drumming and Meditation Calligraphy with Sol Haven

Sol Haven are drumming therapy and meditation experts based in Moulton Park. We're so excited they're visiting Daventry for a day as part of our summer activities, providing drumming and calligraphy sessions in the park for those aged 10 and over. With two bookable slots and a drop in session for FREE come and join the beat - literally drumming positivity into your life!

What: Drumming and Meditation/Tao Calligraphy workshop

Time: Bookable sessions at 10am and 11am and a drop in session at 12.45pm (Duration approx 40 minutes)

This is a FREE workshop for tweens and teens aged 10 years and over and for the morning sessions you must book a place for each participant.


Street Theatre & Open Air Performances with Rhubarb Theatre

Street theatre and performances

Nationwide renowned Rhubarb Theatre Company will visit Daventry High Street during market day with walkabout street performances and a performance next to the Burton Memorial. Come and join in the fun for FREE, suitable for all ages.11am – Bombardiers street walkabout

  • 11:30am – Bombardiers show near Burton Memorial
  • 12:45pm – The Admirals street walkabout
  • 2:00pm – Time Machine show near Burton Memorial
  • 3:00pm – The Admirals street walkabout.

Suitable for all ages, this promises to be a day of super fun, quirky and laid-back theatre performances.
